Forum Title: Shower Drain Help
I am remodeling a shower and I got the concrete busted up around the shower drain. The old shower drain flange is cast iron and rusted pretty badly. As you can see in the picture there is a 4" PVC pipe under the cast iron drain flange. Looks like it is glued into the 4" PVC drain pipe. I was informed there is a 2" cast iron drain pipe inside this 4" pvc pipe, and the pvc is a sleeve over the cast iron drain and is there to help support the drain flange. Should I dig down to the ptrap and see if it is cast iron or pvc and go from there or could I just cut off this flange and attach a new plastic one to it? As an FYI the rest of the drain/venting is pvc, including the main drain (3" pvc). Thank you for your help.
